
Nominations for this year’s Silwerskerm Awards for Film and TV announced
They bring diverse stories to life that make viewers laugh and feel moved, offer advice on everything under the sun, draw you in, and keep us up to date with current affairs and news. Regardless of the capacity in which they appear, this wide variety of artists and presenters on the small screen become like family in countless homes.
The television nominations have now been revealed across 16 categories for the Silwerskerm Awards for Film and Television, which this year includes a new category for best presenter in a documentary programme.
The winners will be announced on Saturday, 22 August at the glamorous closing ceremony of the Silwerskerm Festival at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The winners of the best feature film and best film actors who debuted at the festival will also be announced at this event.
“This year’s nominees are once again a testament to the exceptional excellence within our industry. We pay tribute to their talent, dedication and pursuit of quality. Through their work, they not only tell South African stories but also give them meaning in the lives of our viewers,” says Waldimar Pelser, Director of Premium Channels at MultiChoice, a Canal+ company.
The awards ceremony will be broadcast on kykNET (DStv Channel 144) on Sunday, 23 August at 19:00. The names of the presenters and special artists who will perform will be announced at a later stage.

The legends honoured for their lifetime contributions to the television industry will be announced at the end of July.
The winners of the kykNET Silwerskerm Festival’s other categories will also be announced on Saturday, 22 August during a morning awards ceremony at The Bay Hotel.
