Lumo
While returning home one day, Lumo Sinai (20) and another woman are gang-raped by a group of soldiers fighting for control of the Democratic Republic of the Congo during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. As a result, Lumo suffers from a traumatic fistula, a chronic condition that leaves her incontinent and unable to bear children. Rejected by her fiancé and most of the village, she finds her way to the one place that may save her: a hospital for rape survivors along the border with Rwanda. On her uncertain road to recovery, Lumo shows that the solidarity of women can bind the most irreparable of wounds.
